ACADEMIC YEAR - AA

The CLI Dante Alighieri offers the possibility of spending an academic year in Florence with a course designed to answer the needs of tomorrow's world. Our “Academic Year” course lasts eight months and every year there are three start dates for the program: in January, May and September.
The first four-month period is entirely dedicated to the Italian language and culture: classes are all mornings from Monday to Friday and some afternoons. At the end of the first four-month period, the students will have to take the CLIDA S2 exam, and at the end of the second four-month period, after an appropriate preparatory course, they will be able to sit for the exams in order to obtain the CLIDA certificates for the knowledge of standard or professional language
In the second four-month period it's possible to choose among the following programs:

  • AA-L - LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
  • AA-IN - INTERNSHIP
  • AA-A - APPLIED ARTS

This variety of programs has been carefully designed for those who think to apply to an Italian university or a professional training school or for those that just want to have an unforgettable experience in Italy!


AA-L: Language and Culture Program

The program considers the most important aspects of modern and contemporary literature, as well as all the historic figures who have contributed to Italy’s greatness.

The eight-month program includes:
- Eight 4-week long “G8” Italian language courses.
- Italian cultural courses and/or extra conversation in the afternoon
- The preparatory course and the CLIDA exams for the knowledge of the Italian language
- Eight cooking lessons
- Eight wine tasting classes
- Accommodation provided in a double room for the entire 8 months
- Sixteen lunches per month in carefully selected restaurants
- Five one day trip to cities or places of interest such as Rome, Venice, Siena, Pisa, Verona, San Gimignano, Arezzo and Lucca


AA-IN: Internship Program

This option includes an unpaid, 3 month internship in a Florentine company in industries such as Commerce, Tourism, Fashion and many more.

The eight-month program includes:
- Five 4-week long “G8” Italian language courses.
- Italian cultural courses and/or extra conversation in the afternoon
- The preparatory course and the CLIDA exams for the knowledge of the Italian language
- Eight cooking lessons
- Eight wine tasting classes
- Accommodation provided in a double room for the entire 8 months
- Sixteen lunches per month in carefully selected restaurants
- The service of internship placement


AA-A: Applied Arts Program

The AA-A includes a course of Introduction to Fashion or Design or a course of Applied Arts (Painting, Sculpture, Photography, etc.), in collaboration with the Accademia delle Belle Arti – LABA of Florence

The eight-month program includes:
- Eight 4-week long “G8” Italian language courses.
- Italian cultural courses and/or extra conversation in the afternoon
- One practical course of drawing, painting, photography and more
- The preparatory course and the CLIDA exams for the knowledge of the Italian language
- Eight cooking lessons
- Eight wine tasting classes
- Accommodation provided in a double room for the entire 8 months
- Sixteen lunches per month in carefully selected restaurants
- Five one day trip to cities or places of interest such as Rome, Venice, Siena, Pisa, Verona, San Gimignano, Arezzo and Lucca

FINAL EXAMS

At the end of the course all the students have the options of taking exams in order to obtain:

  • CLIDA - S3 Certificate of knowledge of Italian language at Advanced level for all programs.
  • CLIDA-TC Certificate of knowledge of Italian language for Commerce & Tourism (recognized by the Austrian Minister of Education) for the AA-IN - Internship Program.

THE PROGRAM

Students have language lessons from Monday to Friday in the morning throughout the program and extra conversation or culture courses in the afternoon. They are also offered 8 cooking classes and 8 wine tasting classes.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Students who take academic courses may choose between two types of accommodation which is included in the price of the course:

  • Room with a Family (double occupancy) with breakfast. Lunch is offered at the school Monday through Friday.
  • Room in an Apartment (double occupancy) with Lunch at the school Monday through Friday.

MEALS

Moreover program participants have included 24 lunches per month in a carefully selected restaurant.


SPRING HOLIDAYS

Since the programs of the Academic courses are intensive, the School organizes for the students a gorgeous trip to Sicily for one week. The holyday is included in the course fee. Services offered are: two ways trip from Florence, accommodation and guided visits to famous artistic localities. The trip combines fun and learning. An emphasis is put on the rich history of the island, where the students will visit Greek temples, Roman theatres, Norman cathedrals and experience Sicilian cuisine. If the weather allows, there will be time for a bath in the Mediterranean see too. And if lucky, students will also be able to see the Etna volcano erupt at safe distance.

THE TEACHERS

The Teachers of the Academic courses have been chosen according to the following criteria: high professional standards, high communication skills, vast culture, openness, extensive knowledge of psychology and pedagogy.
In addition:

  • They have taken a course to specialize in the teaching methods specially designed for foreign students;
  • Are all university graduates and highly qualified in their field;
  • They have a long experience in the field of teaching foreigners.
